Ethanol or ethyl alcohol is one of alcohols originated from the fermentation of molasses or flour plants. It is clear, colorless liquid which is inflammable and dissolvable in water and other organic solutions. So, it is variously useful by grades of the products. Ethanol can be divided into 3 types as follows.
- 99.5 % by volume fuel-grade ethanol (Fuel alcohol) is used for producing fuels and it can increase octane in oil when mixed with benzene called as “gasohol”
- Industrial alcohol is not directly consumable, but it is further used in food and drink, medicine and fiber industries etc.
- Portable Alcohol or ENA which is directly consumable, and it is mostly applied with the production of cosmetics, liquors and medicines.
